Job Description

What's your role in society?

We are currently looking for an experienced, talented and motivated Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join our successful Building Infrastructure team. This role could also be recruited at Senior Technician or Senior Engineer level and could be based in either Ipswich, Solent or Cambridge. We operate a hybrid working model which for us means typically 3 days per week in the office or on site, and 2 days at home (depending on the need for site visits and client meetings).

What does the role involve?

As part of a friendly team, you'll work proactively on a wide range of projects right from inception through to completion. Our range of projects cover all major sectors including large residential sites, hospitals, offices, commercial warehouses, film studios and renewable energy schemes.

You will be responsible for Civil Engineering/Infrastructure design, including preparing design calculations, specifications, drawings and technical information. You'll undertake site surveys, write reports, carry out contract management on delegated schemes and be comfortable liaising with clients, statutory authorities, contractors and the wider design team.

The role will enable you to gain a wide range of experience which will stretch your skills and develop your career.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • The ability to creatively solve problems using logic and reasoning to develop designs and strategies.
  • To be able to organise and prioritise your workload and tasks to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Relevant UK experience of infrastructure design including below ground foul and surface water drainage, cut/fill, pavement design, external levels, highway works, Highway Section 38/278 and Water Industry Section 104/106 agreements.
  • A Civil Engineering degree, BTEC HNC/HND or similar.
  • Good numeric and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK Codes of Practice and Design Standards including Building Regulations, Design and Construction Guidance and Health and Safety.
  • Excellent design skills and be able to competently undertake computer-based analysis including experience of using AutoCAD/Civils3D and/or WinDes MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage or similar.
  • An understanding of projects both during planning, design and construction, along with an understanding of CDM Regulations and designers responsibilities.
