Job Description

Become part of our society.

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior Design Manager to join our expanding Mission Critical team in our newly refurbished Central London office.  We operate a hybrid working model which for us means typically 3 days in the office or on site and 2 days at home (depending on the need for site visits/client meetings).

Our Mission Critical facilities engineering experts bring together global data centre project experience and technical capability from site acquisition to project completion. Delivering projects across the UK and globally, clients see us as their most committed and reliable partner.

What does the role involve:

You will lead on planning, coordination and implementation of large-scale projects through the whole project lifecycle. The projects will be complex, high risk and high profile for Sweco’s Mission Critical Business Unit. You will use your technical experience to help direct and shape designs, monitor and report on deliverables progress and contribute to the continuous development of management tools.

Key deliverables will include:

  • Leading, coordinating and chairing project meetings whilst engaging all members of the project team (client, designers, contractors etc.).
  • Liaising with clients on project delivery and sometimes acting on their behalf.
  • Leading on strategic planning and bid negotiation.
  • Leading the business improvement process, developing innovative tools that occur on the project and ensuring implementation and best practice is adhered to.
  • Identifying and monitoring risks within the project ensuring that plans are in place to mitigate impact.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

An engineering degree along with Chartership from a relevant institution. You’ll have prior experience in design management roles, or a keen willingness to expand your management capability.

Data Centre experience would be beneficial but isn’t essential, what’s more important is the right mindset to the way you undertake work. You will be proactive, collaborative, organised, methodical and a natural problem solver with the ability to influence others.

What’s in it for you?

Working at Sweco you’ll experience an inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop. A meaningful job where you’ll help to transform society by being a trusted consultant to our clients.
